Force Update Google Glass

The XE16.2 update started rolling out yesterday, but like every update it takes a while for the update to get to all the Explorers. Despite several people having the update already, there is still a bunch of people who have not received the update; you might be one of those people.

The good news is that there might be a way for you to force Google Glass to update. Explorer Marc Konchar has shared a little method that might force Google Glass to update. Marc Konchar has been an Explorer since January and, according to his post, his method has worked for every new software update that has been released since he got the device.

His force update method is pretty simple. Here are the steps:

1. Make sure that your Google Glass is charged above 50% and within range of a saved Wi-Fi connection.

2. Turn off Google Glass by holding down the power button for a few seconds.

3. Plug Google Glass into it’s charger, which will turn the device back on, and wait for the update.

4. If you don’t get the update within a few minutes, then repeat the steps.

Marc’s theory is that Google Glass “checks in” when it boots up. Since you meet the requirements (wifi and power) upon “check in”, you are more likely to get the update. Well, at least that’s the theory.

So, there’s a little trick you can try out to maybe force update Google Glass. It may work, or it may not work; either way it doesn’t hurt to try. If the tip does work, then make sure to say “thank you” to +Marc Konchar for the tip.

Do you know of a way to force update Google Glass? If you do, then feel free to post your method in the comments section down below!
