Watch Your Privacy: Know When You’re Being Watched

The main argument against Google Glass is that it is an invasion of privacy. Well, what if we told you that Google Glass can actually help wearers maintain their privacy?

As we all know, more and more cameras are being installed in public places to monitor what citizens are doing. Most people are okay with drifting by a camera, but a good portion of us would rather stay out of a view of a camera. Not because we’re up to no good, but because we don’t want to be creepily watched by the government.

Well, a new app called “Watch Your Privacy” for Google Glass aims to let you know where surveillance cameras are and visualizes nearby privacy intrusions.

Here is a video of the app:

The app uses world-wide open data about security cameras to create these privacy intrusion visualizations. The app also provides alerts for other Google Glass users.

Interestingly enough, you have to use Layar to access this “app”. If you would like to check out this app, then you can head on over to sndrv.com/watchyourprivacy/.

So, what are your thoughts on this? Would you ever find yourself using Watch Your Privacy, or do you not mind being in the view of surveillance cameras? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!
