Facebook Might Announce Oculus Rift During The Game Awards 2015

According to some reports, Facebook will make a special announcement during the Game Awards event, which will be held in Los Angeles on December 3, 2015.

It seems that Facebook’s special announcement will be related to Oculus Rift, a virtual reality product. Since the Oculus Rift is expected to hit the markets sometime in 2016, there are high chances that tomorrow we will find out the exact date when this will happen.

We remind you that Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook CEO, had the chance to try out the Oculus Rift in March 2014. He was so satisfied with this device that he decided to give 2 billion dollars to the company.

Back then, everyone thought that he didn’t make the right decision, but so far, Zuckerberg proved that he knows how to invest his money and WhatsApp and Instagram were his best acquisitions.

According to Zuckerberg, Oculus Rift will be awesome for the gaming market, but at the same time, the headset is awesome for viewing live content and it supports person-to-person communication. With other words, in a few years, social networking will most likely depend on VR.

However, one of the issues that these types of devices will face is that there will be not enough content for them. This will be one of the main reasons why there will not be a lot of consumers at the beginning. Another reason will be that the device will be quite expensive, so not everyone will afford to purchase it.

However, it seems that Zuckerberg realizes that this technology will grow slowly, just like mobile phones or computers did when they’ve first arrived. However, Zuckerberg confirmed that he’s committed to Oculus and virtual reality for the long term.

Whether we like it or not, Oculus Rift and other virtual reality devices will get more and more popular in the upcoming years. However, it will take a few years until these types of devices will get popular, mostly because they are very expensive (for now).
