What VR Headset Will You Purchase Once It Will Hit The Stores?

Whether we like it or not, virtual reality headsets will hit the stores sooner or later. Today we’re going to talk about some VR Headsets that are about to come in 2016.

Microsoft HoloLens

Microsoft HoloLens is not a VR (virtual reality) headset and in fact it’s an AR (augmented reality) headset. VR headsets are the devices you put on and you are 100% “inside” a virtual world because your field of view of the real world is blocked. Microsoft’s HoloLens comes with a translucent visor that allows you to still see the physical world.

This headset is great to use when you want to learn something, for example if you want to learn to cook, you can have a chef running in the HoloLens and you will still be able to see what you are doing in the real world, allowing you to keep the pace with the chef while cooking. There are also rumors saying that this device will be used in surgery training for the young doctors that don’t have enough experience.

The Microsoft HoloLens is expected to be released before the end of 2016 or in Q1 2017.

Sony PlayStation VR also known Project Morpheus

It’s been a while since Sony has been working on its own VR headset under the name of Project Morpheus. Well, since this VR headset is about to be released soon, they’ve also renamed it and it is now called Sony PlayStation VR. As the name suggest, this VR headset will be an accessory for the PlayStation 4. With other words, if you don’t own a PlayStation 4, you will not be able to use this VR headset. Sony PlayStation VR comes with a 5.7-inch OLED screen and a 120GHz refresh and it’s expected to be released in Q1 of 2016, but likewise the Oculus Rift, we’re not sure what price it will come with.

Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift has been invented by Palmer Luckey, a person that ever since he was a teenager, he has been fascinated with primate VR tech. This led him to create his own virtual headset, also known as Oculus Rift, which was funded on Kickstarter and shortly after that, it received 2 billion dollars from Facebook.

Oculus Rift is connected to a computer using the USB port and it’s tracking your head movements via its built-in sensors. A consumer edition of the Oculus Rift is expected to arrive sometime in Q1 2016 and it will include two Oculus Touch hand controllers, along with an Xbox One gamepad. Unfortunately, we’re not sure how much this VR headset will cost, but as soon as we find out, we will let you know.

HTC Vive

HTC is another big company that is considering investing in VR headsets. The company has claimed that Vive will be released by the holiday of 2015, but since there are a few weeks left until then, we’re sure that this device will not be launched this year. However, once this headset will be released, things will be awesome, especially if you are a Valve Steam gamer. This is because the HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset essential for the Steam Service (also known as SteamVR).

You will just need to plug the HTC Vive into the Steam Machine or PC and you will be able to play all the Steam games using this VR headset. The device will come with two sensors that you can hang on a wall, so they can track your movement space. There is no official price of HTC Vive, but according to rumors the device will cost around 300-600 dollars.
