Epson and i2CAT Partner to Create a Smart Glasses App Development Center in Spain

Early this morning, news broke that Epson Iberica and i2CAT have signed an agreement and became partners. The new partnership between Epson and i2CAT will create a development center in Catalonia.

The new development center will be called the “Moverio Competence Centre ” and it will be used by Epson as an area to research and develop new apps and services for their smart glasses and other wearables. The research and development center will also act as a place to meetup with developers and suppliers of smart glasses.

As part of the agreement, Epson will be joining the board of i2CAT, which is a non-profit that promotes research in ICT. Epson, based on their statements, seems to be quite excited to start working with i2CAT.

“We are looking to harness i2CAT’s knowledge and actively collaborate with them via the new competence centre with a view to developing innovative solutions in an area with a high growth potential.”

Not a lot has been going on with the Moverio BT-200 lately, so it’s good to here that Epson is working on ramping up development.
