Wevr, the California-based virtual reality startup, has managed to raise $25 Million with the help of HTC, Samsung Ventures, Orange and other investors, and will launch an online network where the users will upload virtual reality content. This platform will be like a YouTube of Virtual Reality and currently it’s in private beta.

Every designer who will want to publish his work online will have place where visitors will have the possibility to experience them. Wevr Transport will house free and paid content and the application will be compatible with Google’s Cardboard, HTC’s Vive, Samsung’s Gear VR, Sony’s PlayStation VR and Facebook’s Oculus Rift.

Besides the Transport application, Wevr will offer a cloud service where developers will store their VR content. Moreover, the company is collaborating with independent virtual reality filmmakers and at this year’s Sundance festival there were selected four experiences which have been developed with Valve for the HTC Vive.

Currently, there are 50 employees working on Platform which is currently being tested by a limited number of users and select partners who experience free content, but once the Transport will be officially available, the company will sell content in order to recover the investment.

According to predictions, by 2020 there will be sold 200 million consumer virtual reality headsets across the world and research firm Tractica predicts that the hardware and content revenue will be increased from $108.8 million (2014) to $21.8 billion (2020). Piper Jaffray forecasts that this year will be sold 5 million Gear VRs and once the Oculus Rift Consumer Edition, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR headsets will be released, there will be many interested people who will want to buy them. So, now’s the occasion to bring the Wevr Transport to the public, as there will be plenty content that every VR headset owner will want to experience.
